Car enthusiast's choice: a car for all occasions


The 3rd-generation Ford Focus was first shown to the audience at the 2010 Detroit International Auto Show. In the summer of the same year, the new model was presented in the Russian Federation at the Moscow Auto Show, but the opportunity to buy a new Focus-III from Russian citizens appeared only in 2011. The manufacturer of the model now offers only three body types, namely a 5-door hatchback, sedan, and station wagon. At the same time, the 3-door hatchback from the Focus line was dropped.
In comparison with its predecessor, the Focus-III increased in length by 21 mm (total length 4358 mm), but became lower by 16 mm (total height 1484 mm) and already by 16 mm (total width 1823 mm). The wheelbase of the Focus-III has increased by 8 mm (the total value is 2648 mm), although the trunk volume has slightly decreased. In the modification with a full-size spare, the volume of the luggage compartment is now 372 liters for the sedan model and about 277 liters for the hatchback model (with the rear seats folded - 1062 liters).
Body design
The car received a completely updated body design, but retained the best qualities of the early generations, which are: recognizable appearance, sufficient space of the interior, high versatility and affordable prices. The exterior is quite spectacular and modern. The front bumper is distinguished by a large air intake, which is divided into 3 sections. At the rear of the car, all the attention is taken by the unusual lights of the original shape, which go far enough on the wings. Made with the latest materials, the body is made of several types of metal, which have significantly reduced the weight of the car, as well as significantly increase the rigidity. The updated body of the 5-door modification is stronger than its predecessor by about 45% and stiffer by 15%.
Interior design
The interior of the car is also noticeably transformed. It is made in a modern style: a large number of buttons, a very pleasant backlight and a stylish design.
The implementation of highlighting in general deserves special attention. Almost the entire interior is equipped with light bulbs: above the torpedo, on the buttons, in the cup holders, in the pockets of the doors, in the legs. In this case, the color of the backlight can be changed by pressing a special button in the ceiling. Color variations are different: from white to orange. Next to this button, there is also a button for adjusting the brightness of the backlight.
The car also received a completely updated instrument panel and center console, equipped with LCD displays. The instrument panel is made in a bright blue color. The on-board computer screen also has a blue backlight. This screen displays the values of the average speed of the car, fuel consumption, odometer, the value of the instantaneous flow, as well as the distance for which there is enough gasoline. On the right side of the display is information about the condition of the car — the schematic silhouette of the car shows the inclusion of dimensions, headlights, opening doors. Under this animation are the transmission mode readings (for a manual transmission, this system also advises when to switch to the next gear: an up arrow appears), the total distance traveled by the car, as well as the temperature overboard.
Technical specifications
As the basic power unit of the European modification of the Ford Focus wheel size, an all-new 4-cylinder gasoline turbo engine from the Ford EcoBoost family with a volume of 1.6 liters, which is available in 2 versions: with a total power of 150 hp and 182 hp, the transmission can be either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed "robot" of the Power Shift model.
EcoBoost engines are not yet available on the Russian market. The buyer can choose between a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with a total output of 105 hp or 124 hp, and a more powerful 150 hp 2.0-liter gasoline powertrain. There are also no mechanics for 6 stages, and the engines with a total volume of 1.6 liters are equipped with a 5-speed box. Turbodiesel for 2 liters with a capacity of 140 hp is equipped only with automatic transmission.
The engine starts with a button, and access to the car is implemented as follows: all the doors of the car, as well as the trunk, open using the buttons located on the key. The hood of the Focus-III opens traditionally with the help of a lever in the cabin. The filling neck is not closed with a stopper, while access to the tank is possible only with a gun or a hose of the desired diameter. The new Focus-III is powered by gasoline no worse than the 95th brand.
Modern electronic systems
The Russian version was left without a lot of fashionable electronic systems, of which there are as many as thirteen pieces in the Focus-III. Of all these additions, the Russians got only a voice-controlled navigation system, a technology for tracking "dead" zones, an emergency braking system to prevent collisions at low speeds, and automatic parking technology.
The "Premium Light" option package includes bi-xenon headlamps, as well as LED daytime running lights and DIODE taillights.
